Feminine Friday: Weddings

Happy Friday to all you lovely readers! I apologize for my lack of Friday posts but I've had rather busy Fridays! Today I want to talk about weddings.


A little while back, I found this picture:

It really put my feelings into words about weddings. It seems like in the past few years, weddings have become such an ordeal. You have to have everything matching to your colors, serve several courses for a meal for your guests, have a ridiculously expensive photographer and if everything doesn't go perfectly, you failed and your day is ruined. As plans have progressed in my own wedding planning, I've discovered that I just want things as simple as possible! I just want to be married!!! I don't really care about all the big hullabaloo about it. Yes, I'd like things to be nice and I want to invite some good friends to help us celebrate but I DON'T want to make it the performance that so many weddings are nowadays. I don't want to loose sight of what the real reason is for the day! Carl and I are getting married! We're starting a life together! We're beginning a journey that will last for the rest of our lives! And I know that no matter what happens on our wedding day, I will leave as the wife of my best friend and it will be a perfect day!

Wishlist Thursday: A Woodland Cottage

It's Thursday! 5 weeks of school after this week! You can count that on one hand! *sigh* I'm so very ready to be graduated and done with it. How I would love to get away to a little cottage in the woods. Something that looks like this. :)

Homemaker Wednesday: Easter Eggs

Happy Wednesday my dear readers! As you know, Easter is coming up fast so it's almost Easter egg dying time! Dying Easter eggs has been a tradition in my family for many years. A week or two before Easter, my mom goes to the store, buys a dozen eggs and some egg dye and my siblings and I decorate them! This year, I have my nanny job with Little Bird and I've decided we're going to dye eggs of our own! :) I found a different way to dye eggs through Pinterest using Kool-Aid instead of egg dye and I want to try it! Monday Favorites: Daffodils

Happy Monday everyone! Today's favorite is my all time favorite flower which blooms in March! Can you guess? :)

Yup! Daffodils! :) They're so yellow and springy and happy! They make me smile. :) Oh for a bouquet of them in my room! Oh well. The one's in the yard will have to suffice. Here is a poem by William Wordsworth that is all about the pretty flowers! :)

Homemaker Wednesday: Lemonade

Good morning dear reader! Today is going to be sunny and hot, savoring strongly of summer. That, of course, has me thinking about some summery things! Like bright flowers, blue skies, picnics and of course, lemonade. Growing up, my mom always had a pitcher of lemonade in the fridge during the summer. We'd come in all hot and sweaty from running around in the backyard with my cousins and served ourselves water bottles full of deliciousness! Sometimes it was just plain lemonade but sometimes, my mom would add mint leaves or strawberries for a different flavor. Looking around Pinterest the other day, I found this picture that has a few good ideas for some different lemonade! Oh I can't wait to try some this summer! Take a look!

Homemaker Wednesday: Simplicity

Hello readers! It's been a while since I've posted a homemaker post but today I have something to share with you! The past few days this week, I've been registering for wedding gifts. As I've been sifting through item after item, it has me thinking about simplicity. 


When Dearest Carl and I have our own apartment, I want to create a home that is clean, orderly, welcoming, comfortable and without loads of clutter. Now I do like decorating (I wanted to be an Interior Designer for a while) but I don't like clutter. When my room is clean, organized and clutter free, I feel so much more relaxed and at home. I'm trying to keep this in mind as I'm registering for things. There's a lot I could ask for but I have to ask myself "Do I really need this?" So basically, I'm trying to do some Spring Cleaning before I even get there. :)


My question for you is... do you need to do some Spring Cleaning?

Feminine Friday: Girl Speak

Happy Friday all my lovely readers! Today I wanted to share a picture with you and my thoughts on it. So be prepared for more of a ramble. ;) Here is the picture I found.

Okay now before I go on, may I say that THIS IS COMPLETELY TRUE?! It seems like for all of us girls, we have two languages; what we say and what we mean. Now what I question is, why must we be like that? Why can't we just say one thing and that's what we meant, no other secret meaning behind it? And we wonder why husbands get confused! 

I want to make an effort to say what I mean. Yeah I'm a girl so I'm going to not do so great at it sometimes but I'd rather communicate well with people instead of saying one thing and not what I really think. The Bible calls us to speak truthfully and is it truthful to say one thing and mean another? That might be taking it a little bit far but that's what I wonder. So my goal is to do away with Girl Speak as much as I can and say exactly what I mean!
