The Story of the Test

Let me tell you a story. It's a true tale of confusion and frustration but with a good ending.

Once upon a time there was a girl named Casey who had to go take a drivers test to get her permit. She went to the Fortville Branch on Friday with her Grandpa but they found out that that particular branch only gave the test on Wednesdays and Thursdays and you had to call for an appointment. They happened to have a list containing all the other driving test spots at other branches and the staff there tried to secure her a spot at branch not too far from there. The Internet told them that there was a spot where one girl had canceled but when they called the branch lied and said all the spots were filled. So the staff gave Casey a Driver Instructor's cell phone number and told her to call it Saturday morning at 7:15 am. Casey and her grandpa went home very disappointed.

The next day, Casey called the Instructor and discovered that she had to drive all the way to Richmond to take the test. So she and her Grandpa set off again to drive one hour to take the drivers test. They got there and as they walked in the door, the Instructor waved them over and after examining Casey's drivers permit and her Grandpa's license, walked out to the car with Casey. Casey passed fine and went to join her Grandpa as they waited for her turn to take her picture for the license. They waited and waited and waited some more until finally a lady came out and said that the camera was broken and gave them a number to call on Tuesday. So Grandpa and Casey thought "Gee, well let's go to the Greenfield Branch and take the picture there." So they drove all the way back and to the Greenfield branch only to find that the problem with the camera was state wide and they had to wait until Tuesday to get the license.

So here I am, a successful driver with no license. And let me tell you, it sucks. I still can't drive anywhere by myself for another day. GAH! I'm sick of waiting!!!

Also, I'm watching a new romance develop between two friends at youth group and I'm beginning to feel lonely again. Stupid feelings. We should just bottle those up and throw them in the sea. How I wish I could make myself care less! I need to be like Davy Jones, no heart, no feelings, no hurt.

Today is my parents 20th anniversary!!! Later us kids are going to a family friend's house to spend the night while they go out. It's pretty exciting! Today I wrote this for them to celebrate their anniversary. So, enjoy!

Writing, Driving and Literature

Lots of things planned for today! The biggest being........ practicing my parallel parking! I really need to get on that. I'm going to try to get my dad to let me take the test tomorrow but we'll see.

Also, I really need to write today. I'm getting close to being finished with Chapter 5 and I gotta get on that. My little sister, Maisy, is reading Chapters 1 - 4 so hopefully she will like it. I need more action though! Gotta figure that out.

Then I'm beginning my Literature class today. Its a class called Movies in Literature or something like that. The basic idea is to watch classic movies and write papers on them instead of reading the books! So I get to watch lots of movies and read the books I want at the same time! You have no idea how happy that makes me.

Last night I made the mistake of reading ahead in Eldest. Now I know what happens and have no desire to read the rest. Ugh! I hate it when I do that! But I was glad to find that Murtagh is still alive though loath to discover that he is working for Galbatorix now. Noooooooo! He was one of my favorite characters. Maybe there's still some way to rescue him? Hmmmm.....

Blue, Green and Everything In Between

First, why the title? I have no idea. It just sounded good.

Wow the week went fast!! Lots to update but before I start, let me say Happy Father's Day to my amazing dad! And an early Happy 20th Anniversary to my wonderful parents (it's actually Wednesday)!

Now on to the week. I'm done with boot camp!! Who knew bread could taste so amazing! And popcorn! Aaaaaahhh, I love bread. I made it through 10 days without bread alive and now I have to watch how much I eat and no sugar for.......... THE REST OF MY LIFE. Ugh! I'll be lucky if I get through the summer! But so far I've lost 8 lbs and that is motivation enough! So Monday through Wednesday was spent thinking about what I would have for the next meal. Wednesday I drove to Crawfordsville and back with my dad for a viewing. My friend's grandma died very suddenly and though the event was sad, the driving was good practice.

Thursday was my first day of bread sweet bread. I had popcorn for breakfast. Then I went to church all day to help set up for a Wedding Renewal Dinner church was having. Then I went back in the evening to serve the guests which was interesting and I got to hang out with Kate.

Friday was awesome! I slept in, worked out, watched Lucy and then went to Kate's after lunch. We had our Audrey Hepburn marathon and stuffed ourselves with pizza and chocolate and went to see the BRCC musical 'Forgiven'. Then we so totally pulled an all nighter! Ok I slept for 1 hour and everyone keeps saying that it didn't count but I stayed awake the rest of the time! Then I went to bed at 7:30 and didn't wake up until 6:15 this morning. I had church today which was good/normal. Then the family went to Grandma's for dinner and now they're watching movies while I write this. I actually did a bit of writing earlier too! I was so proud of myself. :)

This week should be fun too! Garrett is going to Handy Camp starting tomorrow and won't be back until Saturday. Monday and Tuesday are chill days. Then Wednesday night we're going to mom and dad's friends, the Ostendorfs, to spend the night while mom and dad go out. Thursday I haven't a clue and then Friday is movie night at church. Also, sometime this week I'm going to get my license!!! Woot! I am pumped to be able to drive myself places! Can't wait!

As to my deep thoughts, I hate riddles. And also, I've been thinking about secret nicknames. What is the point in having a nickname for someone and not being able to call them that to their face? I don't get it! I must ponder this.

Wicked Diets, Bad Book Beginnings and Other Such Unseemly Inventions

OH MY GOSH!!! Wicked was absolutely, fantastically, amazingly, no-questions-asked the best thing I have ever seen in my entire life!!! The acting was great, the plot was better and as for the singing, there aren't words!! My favorite song was 'Defying Gravity' and my favorite part was when Elphaba pops up at the end and reveals that she didn't die!! *sigh* It was awesome! You also find out that the Wicked Witch of the West really wasn't wicked! What a plot twist!!

Now you know what's wicked? This diet I'm on. Day 6. 4 more days left. On Thursday, I am eating popcorn for breakfast!! :) Also, Kate and I are planning an overnight when we can have an Audrey Hepburn marathon and stuff our faces with pizza!! Woot! We are planning to watch Breakfast at Tiffany's, Funny Face, Paris When It Sizzles, My Fair Lady and maybe Roman Holiday. Then we'll probably watch Fiddler on the Roof just because she hasn't seen it. And pizza! Oh how I want lots and lots of pizza!!!

Next, I'm in the middle of the Inheritance Series and I just started the book Eldest. So far, it's terrible! Countless people have died and Eragon has gained a whole bunch of dwarf enemies!! UGH! I hate books that start badly because most end worse! Though I know Eragon can't die because there's book three still to come. Lots and lots of summer reading!

Oh, I'm done with singing lessons. We came home from vacation and my dad said "There's no good purpose. You're finished." So yeah, so much for a singing career.

Now for something I'm excited about! This July we're starting an actual youth group type thing. Every Wed. the Impact Group (teens from Living Streams) will be getting together to do bible study and hang out! I'm sooooo pumped to get this going!!

Just a Quickie

I don't have much time but I thought I really needed to update this. Nothing happened yesterday at all. Today however is full of excitement! First, I'm going to see a friend whom I haven't seen in 10 months!! Second, we're going to see the musical Wicked for her birthday! They're coming in half an hour to get me!!

Now to my bad news. I'm no a diet so I can't eat sugar, bread, fruit or popcorn for 10 days (well 9 now)!! It sucks so bad! I'm craving popcorn especially. When I look in the fridge, all I do is find stuff I can't eat! AHHHHH!! I'm going to die.

Busy Busy Busy

Gosh, you come back from vacation expecting to just gently slide back into things but that's not what happened! I was thrown violently back into things!! Friday night I went to Kate's house for a spontaneous sleepover! That was awesome. Saturday we made cupcakes with holiday sprinkles (see picture). We then decided that we were going to celebrate a random holiday each week this summer so last week's holiday was "Italian Liberation Day" celebrated by eating Italian Liberation cupcakes!! They were very good!

Saturday night I went to one of my friend's open house and went to church to help my mom clean. Then I came home and discovered that my dad wanted to take me out for chinese for dinner so I went out yet again! THEN I came home and stayed up until midnight finishing the book 'Eragon' (which was very good by the way).

Ok so now we're to today. Not much that interesting really. I went to church this morning and my friend Jessica was there after being absent for a few months! That was exciting! Then I came home and ate lunch with the family and did a bit of writing. This evening I went to a surprise birthday party for a friend which was fun and now I'm here updating my blog while talking to Bailey on Facebook!

As for my oh so deep thoughts, I've been contemplating why I'm different around certain groups of people. Not really different but I just act kinda different. For example, when I'm at my old youth group, I never talk really at all. But when I'm with my new youth group, I'm one of the people who starts all our conversations! Maybe its the group size, very large against very small. Or maybe its because my old youth group talks about things that I can't really relate to (school, Leadership group, the last youth retreat that I didn't go to, etc.). I think its because the people at my old youth group have labeled me "The Quiet One," therefore anything I would have to say wouldn't be interesting. But my new youth group thrives on my tales and explanations. I really don't know and I can't figure it out. I just know that I love my new youth group because they genuinly care about me! They notice when I'm absent and always cheer me up when I'm down! Its awesome!!

Vacation and Such

Wow its been a while! I just got back early this morning from Florida. Note to self: 20 hours in the car is not fun. Florida was amazing though! Ocean, sand, sun, sea breeze, good book, ahhhhh. I spent so much time doing absolutely positively nothing! It was awesome! Here was the typical day down there: wake up late, drink coffee while watching tv, swim in the ocean or pool, eat lunch, watch more tv, eat dinner, walk on the beach and look for shells, watch a movie, go to bed. TA DA!!! We did go to a water park one day which was awesome fun!! So yeah, I came back with my skin tan, my hair a lighter blond and my suitcase filled with sand. Good vacation.

So, now on to summer plans. I've been kicked out of singing lessons which sucks, but hopefully I'll be able to fill the time with other things. I might be taking Ballroom Dancing Lessons!! How amazing is that?! Then there's getting my license soon which will be a relief. I'll be babysitting alot and helping with a summer camp for Spanish kids in July. Besides that, reading a bunch of good books and catching up with friends is what I've got planned. And maaaaaaaaaybe a summer romance? haha Yeah right. But a girl can dream.
