Pure Awesomeness

That's pretty much what this week has been! Last weekend was absolutely fantastic! Seeing my aunt, uncle and little cousin was great, the cheesecake turned out to be superb (one of the best yet I think), watched movies, babysat and had a lovely time hanging out with my family and Carl.


Monday came as Mondays must though it wasn't too bad. Spanish was kinda fun and after fiddling 3 hours away in the cafeteria, Kristen and I had quite a time in Bio lab, trying to figure out the answers to stuff. It was pretty hilarious. After I got home, Carl came over as usual for Monday nights. We worked on our puzzle (that's getting close to finished but still not quite done) and watched Signs. Twas quite fun!


Tuesday I worked on my paper for my Art History class (which I should be finishing right now...) and then off to work I went! We won't talk about work though. When I got home, mom had yummy meatball sandwiches for dinner and then we watched the new Robin Hood. I decided I didn't like that movie because it wasn't Robin Hood-ish enough for me. However if they had given it a different title, I probably would have liked it. Ok, done ranting. 


Wednesday was probably the best day yet! I had Spanish class in the morning which was again, very entertaining. Then Carl and I went for a walk at a park and then to Starbucks where he graciously helped me with my homework for politics class. Then we came back to my house for lunch and when he left, I did some odds and ends (productive things I assure you). Then it was back to work.... which we will again skip. I was greeted by Carl's smiling face at the door when I got home and after ranting to my mom a bit (about work of course... :P ) we left for an evening with one of Carl's friends. It was fun too! The three (and then four when Aaron's younger brother joined us) of us ate dinner and played various card games. I kinda owned them all at Indiana Jones but I have experience. *cocky hair flip* I got home late and went to bed smiling away. :) 


So the goal today is to finis that paper, work later and then some fun tonight in some form or another. Not quite sure what that will look like yet.

Epic, Simply Epic

Yeah, that describes my weekend in one word and it's only Saturday afternoon! Let me catch you up. 


Friday: First of all, the weather yesterday was absolutely wonderful!! I got to sleep in and spend the afternoon doing more Bright Lights training (on which I am sadly behind). Work was better than this past week has been. I got to work with my cousin and we didn't have a lot of kids so she said I could leave early and she'd close up (since I had to close the other days I worked)! Ladies and Gentlemen, this young lady got home by 5:20! Woooooot!!! Then I sat with Gavy outside on the swing while we waited for dinner. Which brings me to the next fliptastic part of my weekend! My aunt, uncle and two year old cousin are up from Texas for the weekend! :D So last night, my grandma and them came over for pizza with us! Then Carl came to meet them and I ended up going back to his house with him for his sister's birthday. He and I played some games on his iPhone (most of which he won) and we watched his sister open presents and ate cake and ice cream and watched Enchanted with his family. I got home.... late. 


Saturday: Ok so you know I've had my Survey of Art and Culture I class Saturday mornings at 8. Well today was our field trip to the art museum! So I got to sleep in until a beautiful 8:30! *happy sigh* I was able to take my time getting ready and then Carl came to pick me up and be my escort to the museum. It kinda surprised me the things I noticed and the appreciation for some of the pieces after taking this class. Anyway, we flew through the three exhibits we've been studying and then after an hour, Carl and I just kinda walked around a bit. I also showed him the gardens and he took some pictures (a few of me regrettably...) When we got home, we ate lunch and I made a cheesecake for Sunday dinner tomorrow. And the rest of the afternoon has been spent watching him edit pictures and keeping my mouth shut about what I like and, more commonly, don't like. Then in a little while I'll be making dinner for the family who are at a family reunion today (that interfered with my field trip which is why I'm writing this) and then probably end with a movie. What, we shall find out. :)


Sunday: Tomorrow is church and I'm in the nursery second service! :D Then my grandma and Texas family are coming for dinner and the afternoon. And after that, I have babysitting as usual. And then I'll pack up my books when I get home and make my lunch and start another week. 


Speaking of weeks.... 2 WEEKS UNTIL SPRING BREAK!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D I'm a little excited if you couldn't tell. ;)

Feels Like...

Friday night! That's right! I'm done with my homework for the week and besides work tomorrow and Friday, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with myself! Something constructive of course... but what! I'm sure it won't be too hard to figure out. :) 


Let me see. Today ended up wonderfully pretty much! I went to bed freakishly early last night and woke up at 6 this morning for Spanish class. Today we had our Spanish quiz that lasted 15 minutes and then I headed to Starbucks to get in some uninterrupted homework time. Well I guess the second cup of coffee of the day (a cinnamon dolce latte with white mocha! yum!) helped cause I finished in about an hour and a half! I have to say though, the little boy sitting at the table next to mine with his cupcake was just too cute and very distracting. Who can resist adorable smiles like that! 


Since I got home so early and had nothing else to do, I took Lucy to the park! It was an absolutely gorgeous day and we had a lovely time swinging and playing on the playground and walking in the woods. I was a good swing-pusher but as soon as Carl showed up, I lost my job. Oh well. He's better at it anyway. :) After finally tearing her away from the slides, we headed back to my house for grilled cheese for lunch and then sitting in the sun with Carl, just talking. Theeeen it was time for work which today, contained horror stories I will not repeat. Needless to say I was VERY glad when the three hours were over and I could come home! Craziness, seriously. 


When I got back, I found Garrett here by himself so I ate some dinner and he and I went to see a movie! Gnomeo and Juliet, a parody of Romeo And Juliet and absolutely fantastic! Funny, kid friendly (mostly), great lines, great plot, good ending, a movie I would definitely recommend. So now we're home and I'm writing this! This weekend is going to be fliptastic to say the least but I'll save all my adventures for future posts and leave you to be curious. :) Yeah, horrible of me I know.

Back To Normal

That's right folks. We're done with my Love Dissection series which means you can look forward to all my boring monotonous posts again. Great huh? I'm sure since I began that series, you've been wondering how life is going. Well, I'll tell you, it has it's ups and downs.


Classes are going pretty good. I think Bio is my hardest class this semester. Lots of studying and study guides and sleeping through lectures. Mr. Eaton (my prof for that class) is too forcibly happy whenever he talks, like he's actually interested in all this stuff! The only thing that gets me through that class is the one friend I've made this semester, Gabrielle. I'm praying she doesn't drop the class or I'm going to be very sad. Spanish class is a breeze. Everything we've learned so far is all review from Ms. Marci's class my junior year of high school. My teacher is awesome and before each quiz, he gives us a review of what's ON the quiz! Seriously! He just writes it all up on the board, what to expect, what he'll be asking, etc. Easy A. Politics class is pretty easy too though quite frustrating. Being online, I like that I can do stuff when I have time but there's been so many issues regarding the book and discussion boards not working and stuff. It's kinda frustrating but I guess it's better than sitting through a politics lecture. My favorite class has to be Survey of Art and Culture, even if it is at 8 am on a Saturday morning. All the tests are open book, open note which means studying is minimal. Also, I like the subject of Art History so it makes the four hour lectures easy to listen to and easy to stay awake. This upcoming Saturday, instead of a lecture, we're going to the Art Museum for a field trip! I'm excited! :D All in all, I have two and a half weeks left of classes before Spring Break. That's a lovely thing right there.


Other than that, things are pretty good. Work is going well, despite the occasional bad day. We're learning how to manage so many kids and it's quite a job. I usually work 3 days a week so it works out nicely. Me and Carl's courtship is going just fantastically. I got roses from him for Valentines Day which are now sitting on my dresser. Yeah I know, he's amazing. :) Also, even though it's only February, I've started wearing skirts. Honestly, I don't care if it's cold or not! I like them and I've missed them and I am SO ready for spring!!!!


Immediate future: I'm looking forward to babysitting Blacksmith and Skunk Monkey again this summer! And being just those two without Awesome One and Princess Peach, we'll be able to do so much more. I can't wait! :D I'm also signed up for two online classes this summer. Survey Of Art And Culture II and Intro To World Politics. It'll be nice not having a heavy homework load and not having to go to any classes. Other than that, I'm looking forward to bike rides, walks in the park, stargazing, watching the sun set, hiking, ice cream with Zach and Joe and lots of other things! It's going to be a good summer. :)

Love Dissection: Conclusion

"Love never fails." ~ 1 Cor. 13:8a


How perfect to have our last post on love on February 14th! Aka Valentines Day. The holiday dedicated to love! And the last bit of this is something that everyone dreams of; having someone's eternal never-ending unfailing love. Always and forever. 


I think that God made us to desire this love because there's only one place we can find it. From Him! Love never fails but as humans, we will fail and disappoint. He never will! He loves us when we mess up and fix it and then turn around and do the same thing again. He loves us when we don't love Him back. He has loved us before we were even born, before the beginning of time. That's some pretty amazing love if you ask me! 


So if we're trying to be like Christ, we should be striving for this right? When your little sister destroys your room after you just cleaned it. When your mom makes you wash all the dishes. When the guy on the road in front of you cuts you off. When the waiter at the restaurant isn't very nice or happy. When your best friend forgets about your sleepover. Just love them. And don't stop loving them, even when it's hard! Even when they disappoint and hurt you and maybe even break your heart, love them!

Love Dissection: Part X

"It always protects, always trusts, always hopes and always perseveres." ~ 1 Cor. 13:7


What amazes me about this verse is how God can love us like this! He always protects us, always trusts in us, always hopes for us and always perseveres for us. We, who mess up daily and always will and yet He still does! Don't we have an amazing God?! 


As for us, sometimes loving like this is easier than others. Some people, it's easy to protect them because we love them. It's easy to trust them because we love them. It's easy to hope and persevere for them because we love them. Other people, not so much. And really, those are the people we need to work on. Cause if God loves everyone, shouldn't we? So protect them. Trust them. Hope for them. Persevere. And I don't think you'll regret it.

Love Dissection: Part IX

"Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth." 1 Cor. 13:6


This one is again, kind of self explanatory. If you love someone, you're not going to be excited when they cheat on a test or are unkind to their siblings. But when they do something good and kind and praiseworthy, you're going to applaud them! It's as simple as that.

Love Dissection: Part VIII

"... it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs." 1 Cor. 13:5


Both of these are kinda obvious but very hard. I'm covering them both now because they kind of go hand in hand. We'll take them one by one though. 


Being easily angered. Some I think are better at this than others. Me personally, I'm pretty easy. I don't have much of a temper. However I know people who will take anything you say and turn it into something offensive, aka, are easily angered. Now you would think that if you love someone, you would extend as much forgiveness as possible! You wouldn't get angry easy! You'd try to understand and forgive. At least that's what I think. 


The second part, keeping no record of wrongs, is even harder! Especially for us girls. We like to store up offenses and bring them out later even if they don't apply to the current disagreement. "Oh but remember that one time!" Except love doesn't do that! No no no. You know that saying, forgive and forget? Well that's what this is talking about! If you forgive someone, like honest and truly forgive them, forget the offense! Don't bring it up later! It's over, done, finished, the end. Yeah... I need to work on that one. 


Side note: as of last Thursday, I'm now 19. :)
